Minutes -30th March 2009

Meeting commenced at approximately 7:20p.m. President Paul extended welcome to the guests and spoke briefly about upcoming events.

Business Meeting
President Paul said that two of the Directors were not present so he would give a synopsis of their areas. The President said that Dr. Beaumont gave the Club a challenge to see if we can do a Project to bring in person who can make clinical assessments of students with learning disabilities. Past President Col. Lemuel made the suggestion that a possible programme could be implemented in collaboration with Mico Teachers' College whereby these overseas experts could train our local teachers in the area of clinical assessment, and these teachers would in turn impart their knowledge to their fellow colleagues. This was suggested to the Board and a decision was made that President Elect Earl would take up this challenge during his tenure. President Paul said he gave the Club's citation to the Assistant District Governor to be sent to the District Governor so that the District Governor and team may assess the work our Club has been doing during the year 2008-2009. By doing so, our Club may be able to get an award at the 29th Annual District Convention in May 2009.

Service Club
President Paul said that Director Bentley had opened a US account regarding the Literacy Project. He said that he would like to refurbish the Port Royal Basic School on Labour Day and asked Hon. Rtn. Robert to please check and make arrangements with the school. The President also said that the Project at the Women's Centre should be finished early April and a date for the handing-over ceremony would be announced soon. He thanked all who participated in this Project. The President said that the main fundraiser for the Club, the Fish Fry, would take place before the end of this term. He also said that Chairperson Rtn. Winsome was in the process of arranging another Fellowship.

Rotary Foundation
President Paul said that Director Raymond had contributed US$1,000 to the Paul Harris Foundation. He said that we should also commend our new Rotarian William "Flash" Foster for his contribution of US$100 as a sustaining member.

Club Administration
Director Ruth spoke on sponsorship of advertisement to the Club Bulletin. She also said that a plan for the Installation Banquet was on its way and the tentative date is July 6, 2009. Director Ruth also encouraged all to attend Trafalgar New Heights Club Meeting on April 16, 2009, because our Club will not be having a meeting on April 13, 2009, being Easter Monday.

Membership
Director O. Alexander said he was satisfied with the induction of nine (9) new members so far, but he was still looking to a lawyer and someone in aviation to be inducted.

Public Relation
Director Shawn said that she is planning to do a Brochure on the Club so she is collecting pictures from Projects and events that the Club had done so far.

The meeting was adjourned by President Paul at 8:4op.m.
